GENERAL PRINCIPLES OF COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF THE UPPER JAW IN CHILDREN WITH CONGENITAL CLEFT OF THE UPPER LIP AND PALATE BEFORE AND AFTER CHEILOPLASTY.

Abstract

The nature of postoperative changes and their impact on the growth, development and formation of the maxillary system in patients with congenital cleft of the upper lip, alveolar process and palate have their own characteristics. Usually there are combined deformities, the treatment of which is time-consuming and requires an individual approach.  We observed 95 children (47 boys and 48 girls) with congenital unilateral cleft lip and palate from birth to 2 years.  Casts were taken from the upper jaw and control models were cast in all the children who initially applied with VVGN. Anthropometric measurements were performed on control models. The initial parameters of the upper jaw were compared with those obtained before cheiloplasty. In all children, casts were taken 2 weeks after cheiloplasty and before veiloplasty to assess the dynamics of the position of the upper jaw fragments and the width of the defect.
