MODERN VIEWS OF BEHAVIORAL CHANGES IN 16-17-YEAR-OLD STUDENTS

Abstract

Schizophrenia is a mental illness that is often chronic and can cause serious damage to daily life. In Germany, about 800,000 people, or almost 1% of the population, suffer from schizophrenia in their lifetime. In almost 50 percent of schizophrenics, treatment is almost exclusively in the hands of their family physicians. Therefore, it is very important for the family physician to be fully acquainted with the diagnosis and treatment of this condition, in particular, the latest therapeutic options. Although the disease often remains chronic, the prognosis has been significantly improved by the introduction of new therapeutic approaches. Schizophrenic psychoses are among the most severe psychiatric illnesses and often require several years of treatment, sometimes even throughout a patient’s life.
