DEVELOPMENT OF GALLSTONE DISEASE IN PREGNANCY

Abstract

Cholecystitis (Greek chole - gall, bile + kýstis - bladder, cholecystitis) is an inflammatory process in the gallbladder, often due to the obstruction of bile flow through the blocked bile duct caused by damage to microflora. Usually, cholecystitis is a complication of gallstone disease. The gallbladder is located next to the liver and actively participates in the process of digestion. Bile flows into and out of the small intestine, but sometimes there are problems with evacuation and bile accumulates in the gallbladder, resulting in severe pain and an increased risk of infection.
