School violence in the novel “Tom Brown’s Schooldays” by Thomas Hughes
Abstract
Tom Brown’s School Days is a book written by Thomas Hughes in 1857. He was a lawyer, author, and politician from England. The story happens in a school for boys called Rugby School in the 1830s. The author, Hughes, went to this school from 1834 to 1842. The story is about a boy named Tom Brown who goes to a school called Rugby, which was based on the author's own experiences. Tom Brown’s School Days is a story about a boy growing up and learning about life. He goes to different schools, meets mean kids, gets sick, and finds friends along the way. The story has been turned into several movies and plays. The book Tom Brown at Oxford comes after this one. The character of Tom Brown was based on the author's brother, George Hughes
